꿈이 과학자인 동생을 위한 일인 스튜디오. 인생 첫 본격적인 건축은 가장 가까운 가족을 위해 하고 싶었다. 가장 잘 알고, 아끼는 사람을 위한 공간을 만들고자 했다. 힘들 때 쉴 수 있고, 꿈을 펼칠 수 있으며, 행복한 순간들을 만들어갈 수 있길 바라며 구상하였다.
스튜디오의 형태는 음악과 피아노를 좋아하는 클라이언트의 성향을 반영했다. 벽과 지붕은 음파처럼 이어지며 공간을 감싼다. 피아노의 흰 건반을 쳤을 때 뻗어나가는 음파를 형상화하려 했다. 바라보는 방향에 따라 음파가 점점 높게 다가오기도 하고 작아지기도 한다.
공간은 V자 형태로, 휴식 공간과 실험 공간을 분리했다. 두 공간과 야외 테라스가 모이는 부분엔 피아노를 두었다. 지루할 때, 힘들 때 어디서든 취미 공간으로 쉽게 갈 수 있다. 테라스 앞 통창을 열면 잠시 놀러온 친구들과 합주를 즐길 수 있는 무대가 되기도 한다.
이 공간이 단순한 1인 스튜디오가 아닌, 늘 돌아갈 수 있는 곳이 되길 바란다.
A personal studio for younger brother whose dream is to become a scientist. For my first architectural project, I wanted to design a place for the person I know better than anyone else. I envisioned a place where he can rest when life feels heavy, chase his dreams, and make memorable memories along the way.
The form of the studio reflects the client’s love for music and the piano. The walls and roof flow continuously like sound waves, wrapping around the space. The design aims to capture the moment when a note from a piano’s white key spreads outward as a wave. Depending on the viewer’s angle, the wave rise higher or grow smaller, shifting subtly with each perspective.
The studio is shaped like an letter V, dividing two spaces. One for rest, one for experiments. At the point where the two spaces meet the terrace, there’s a piano. When he is tired or bored, he can reach his favorite hobby easily. And when friends come over, opening the large glass doors toward the terrace turns the space into a small stage for an impromptu jam session.
I hope this place becomes more than just a simple personal studio, a place where he can always return to.
Concept
음악과 특히 피아노를 좋아하는 클라이언트의 집은 어떤 형태여야 할까? 피아노의 흰 건반을 쳤을 때 앞으로 나아가는 음파의 모양을 형상화하려 했다. 또, 높이에 변화를 주어 점점 커지는 소리, 작아지는 소리를 보는 듯한 효과를 주려 했다.
What kind of home would suit to a client who loves music? I tried to capture the motion of soundwave as it travels foward when a piano key is pressed. The form shifts, giving the impression of sound that grows louder and softer.
Program
과학자의 일인스튜디오엔 어떤 공간이 필요할까? 생활을 위한 공간과 실험하는 공간만 있으면 집이 일로 가득 차버릴지도 모른다. 머무르고 싶은 집을 만들기 위해선, 생활과 실험하는 공간 외에 클라이언트가 좋아하는 공간이 필요하다. 또, 외향적인 클라이언트가 친구들을 불러 작게 파티를 열 수 있고, 신선한 공기를 마실 수 있는 야외 테라스도 필요하다.
What space does a personal studio for a scientist actually need? If there is a only living area and a lab, the house could easily become a nothing more than a place for work. To make a home that one wants to stay in, there needs to be something beyond living and working, something the client simply enjoys. Since the client is outgoing and likes welcoming friends, an outdoor terrace was also essential, where gatherings could happen and fresh air could be part of daily life.
초기 평면 배치는 모든 방을 서로 접근하기 쉽게 하였다. 하지만 일과 취미와 쉬는 공간의 분리가 어려웠다. 가장 성격이 다른 쉬는 공간과 일하는 공간을 분리하고, 두 공간이 모이는 지점에 취미 공간을 두었다. 또, 취미 공간은 통창을 통해 야외 테라스와도 이어진다.
In the early plan, every room was placed for easy access. But that made it difficult to separate work, hobbies, and rest. Eventually, the two most contrasting zones(the rest area and the lab) were placed apart, and the hobby area was positioned where they meet. The hobby space also connects directly to the terrace through full-height window.
